My experience on the AVATAR advanced motion technology

In exactly 15 days, I'll be back to Hong Kong! Yippie~ I miss my 二叔公(grand uncle) and my 二叔婆(grand aunt). I have not seen them for 5 years... My grand uncle is my late grandfather's younger brother, mother's side.

And he's definitely one of the born-an-artist in my family. My grandfather too. These are some of his masterpiece, which the souvenir and toy manufacturer in Hong Kong do mass production using his prototype. He reminds me much of my grandfather, and I miss my grandfather badly...

He wrote a book too, on how to draw a potrait (怎样画人物头像素描), but it still remained unpublished until today. I believe that to get this published is one of his biggest dreams, and how I wish I can help him fulfill that... To get a book published in Hong Kong is not that easy, there are so much complicated stuffs especially on the copyright issues. Is any publisher interested here?

Hong Kong, I've been there twice, and in another 15 days, it's gonna be my third. Few days ago I received an email from my ex uni mate on the Advanced Motion Technology used in making the movie AVATAR. Well we've came across this 6 years back during our exchange program in Hong Kong.

See the cameras? Those are stationery cameras which could record the movements of all actors at once in 3D, with submillimeter precision. Data from the cameras was streamed into Autodesk software, which translates actors’ movements into digital characters in real time within a low-resolution computer-generated environment. Read this.

It's the same like in this photo. Spot the cameras at the back? My friend Chuan tried the suit and did some dance moves. I think I should have recorded a short video clip but I couldn't find it...*sigh*.

Development... From this,

to this!

At that time, we could only imagine funny things like replacing the 3D character with a dinosaur and while we're dancing, instead of us appearing on the screen, we see the dinosaur dancing.

Some advance technologies that we learned years back has become a hot topic (hot stuffs at most of the times started from movies isn't it?) and big application. I'm glad that we took initiative to go beyond the 'era' that time. =)

Those were the days of wonders during schooling time. No regret and I miss you guys, my ESOSSians. ESOSS EXCELLENT!!

Life is like that... 请你好好放低!

As the Chinese saying goes, "一失足成千古恨", it just happened around me today... *Sigh*

In life we might not be so aware of the consequences of every steps we take, if there is no pay or gain. Many people did wrong at every seconds, but only the unlucky ones get the pain. We're almost like products that go through sampling, if you have defects but you're lucky, then you're not captured as a reject. Vice versa.

That's life isn't it. I'm being a little emo these days.. Too much things happened around me!

Learn to breathe...

And today definitely sucks as it reminds me of one of the most disappointed moments in my life. Today sucks! Because it's 29th March 2010 and I should not be sitting here...

黄子华 is sacarstic but he's right about life... 请你好好放低!
(if you watch his talk show of 栋笃笑之儿童不宜, you get what I mean)

Ooooo... D-I-C-K-S in Bali

The gang was so excited about dicks in Bali... Souvenirs for their friends and colleagues. But I didn't buy any... did I actually miss out buying these??!! Never mind, go and read Grey's post about "phallus".

Princess Cheryl's thought of the day:- I love my koala cuddlies very much. Gonna send Koalalala for a bath this week. This fella's getting dirty after sitting in the cupboard for 2 years...

'Present' from my latest trip. In Bali, even with sunblock, it would not help much... obviously. This was only the second day evening, I was there for 6 days. You can imagine how tanned my shoulders are right now. Luckily I didn't wear sleeve-Tee. This is still acceptable to me.

Advice for the pro-Snow White babes -- BUY THE SPF130 PA++ sunblock. My SPF50 works most of the time, but not this time..

Footprints of Kooky and us in Bali

Finally back to reality. Working again tomorrow! Jeez...

Anyway, I've had a great time in Bali this trip. Trying out my 500D and I'm happy with the photos, especially the poser ones. =P

Kooky's potraits...

I realized that more and more people are bringing their 'baby' together when travelling around the world. (I know....this pic doesn't look good...) To be frank, I started that 7 years ago. But to be frank, I am NOT a copy cat! (said this because some people thought I follow people's style of doing things)
